Had a few days at Port Welshpool with a reasonable effort from out around 'Rabbit Island'
Weather and sea conditions made for a great couple of trips out past the Port.

Skunk(Swell/Draught board)sharks and jumbo Skates were in plague numbers and the lazy docile critters just loved prime 'Gummy' baits.
In all two great Gummies were boated along with a very good number of solid Flat Head.
Criby1 (Peter) was my crew and we both gave a good account out side.

Boat and new 'anchor winch' went well and and weather was very kind...looking forward in a week to be down there again and get 'real serious' HA HA.

    G’day Fellow Fishies,

I took the wife out for her annual fishing trip in the boat today, Tuesday, Botany Bay being the choice this year. Weather good, sea flat and not much wind but it did blow from different directions during the day at differing strengths.

Birds were spotted working between Henry’s Head and the Bare Island Bommie at around 9:00AM and we trolled for 6 decent tailor to 45 centimetres. The wife was very happy as she got to drive the boat at 4.5 - 5.5 knots while the old man, that's me, watched two rods and told her where to steer, when both rods went off she boated her first ever fish caught on the troll. Those Rapalla 10 cm lurers worked very well.

A very disappointing outcome was that both rods I trolled with were a pair I purchased on EBay and today was the first time they had been used. I fitted both rods with light overhead reels and both rods suffered the same failure in that the rod mount and the lower section twisted and rotate freely from the rod blank. This is something I had not encountered before. It will be interesting to see what response I receive, if any, from the large Victorian based "EBayer" when I contact them.

    Hi all,

Just got back from my week’s holiday with the family at Port Stephens. I really wanted to get a Marlin for the season as there is plenty up there at the moment.

The problem was I couldn’t get past the Bonito and mac tunas as the crew being my family didn’t want to stop.

So we just spent 3 days letting the kids have a ball (me to) with the little pests. I might be going up there with the boys in a few weeks time for the tbfc

Caught a few whiting and tried for snapper around the islands with no luck
