G'day Smellies,
Treble99, Kiwi Waynie & myself went to South West Rocks last week in search of some offshore action. arrived sunday to a flooding river & angry sand bar at the mackleay river, so we caught herring in the river & tried for a jew & we got 3 up to 70cm but my card in my camera s**t itself & so no picsnext morning the bar wasnt the best so we sussed out coffs harbour 1 hour up the road & couldnt get out there either, so it was another river bash >: this time with a new card (but we did get some jew including Daves (treble99) pb & waynie got his 1st estuary cod. tues morn the bar was kind to us and we headed out, got plenty of livies & walked them around the bait schools for a lone Hammerhead shark that put up a spirited fight for Dave. it was pretty quiet so we went to fishrock for some kingie action before heading back across an ugly bar. Because of so much rain the fresh water was rushing out on top of the incoming salt water, so it was just like a run out tide 1 hour before high tide ?
wednesday we decided to go out at coffs harbour due to the bad conditions on the bar. having never been fishin at coffs before we just headed to sth solitary island trolling lures around the washes hoping for a spanish mackerel, but we found some kingies Grin
Last day on the water we went out of swr wide to the canyons trying to find some better looking water, well the water looked slightly better but seemed to be fishless until we came back to the FAD and Dave got his 1st Dolly, but he was a loner & with the nor-easter picking up to 15knots we put the skirts out and headed for home, when my pukula cockroach got slammed and line screamed off under 5 kgs of drag, the fish was still pulling line off with no hint of slowing after waynie got the first of the other lines in when the hooks pulled for no apparent reason  Cry the nor-easter blew all night and was still up the next morning so we did some sight seeing before leaving.

Oh what a trip!
Very tring conditions, heaps of fresh and very little current and even less game fish made all the worth while by great crew mates inc a gun skipper, a few beers a tonne of laughs, thinkin outside the square for a hot kingie sesh (kept 10 from 20-25, good when ya loose count hey), damn weather meant we got to explore n take in some great sites. Was out to get a marlin for my 40th, didnt happen so i'll have to go again (oh stink!), must have had somthing to do with those onions in our dinner (sorry Brett) or maybe it was not being not too sypathetic towards Dave tring to entice a strike by hanging over the side shouting at the fish (sorry dave). Bloody tops trip and a great report Brett (i know you like big reports as much as big onions lmfao). Cant wait to see the vid dave's puting together.
Big thanks fellas memories for life.
